When it comes to football, winning trophies is all very well, but what really matters is who can go into work on a Monday morning with their head held high after a derby game.
It's all about bragging rights. |

With seven teams from London in Division One all capable of scoring goals against each other, Arsenal emerged as the best team in the Capital during the 1986-1987 season.
In second place came Wimbledon who did remarkably well both in the League (finishing sixth) and against London opposition - not least when they went to Chelsea and won 4-0.
In the FA Cup, Spurs got their now traditional win over The ons, beating them 2-0 away in the Sixth Round. In the Fourth Spurs had beaten Crystal Palace 4-0 and went all the way to Wembley, losing 3-2 to Coventry after extra time.
Cup giant killers Leyton Orient almost did it again in the Third Round. They drew 1-1 against West Ham at home in an East End derby, but lost the replay 4-1 at Upton Park.
In the Fifth Round of the League Cup, West Ham drew 1-1 at home to Spurs before being thrashed 5-0 in the replay. That set up an all North London Semi Final betwen Spurs and the Gunners which was played over two legs.
Spurs won the first leg 1-0 away, but after 90 minutes of the second leg, Arsenal were 1-0 up and finished 2-1 up after extra time. That meant a third game which Arsenal duly won 2-1.
And Arsenal went on to win the League Cup, beating Liverpool 2-1.
Good news for Charlton Athletic too. After finishing fourth bottom, they had to get through the Play-Offs against Leeds United which they did to retain their Division One status.

Three points for a win, one for a draw, sweet FA for a lose.
Should two or more teams have the same number of points, goal difference decides bragging rights unless Cup football provides the decider.
Although in the good old days, clubs only received two points for a win in the League, the importance of beating your rivals means that no matter the season, three points for a win applies in the London Bragging Rights League.
