Football Bragging Rights

When it comes to football, winning trophies is all very well, but what really matters is who can go into work on a Monday morning with their head held high after a derby game.

It's all about bragging rights.

Spurs were back in the driving seat for the 1962-1963 season in the bragging rights rollercoaster that is London football.

Unbeaten against London opposition, they finished second in the League. Their 6-1 away win at West Ham summed up their free scoring season - they hit Manchester United for six too, Liverpool for seven and Nottingham Forest for nine.

Orient's taste of top flight football was to only last a season, but they obviously enjoyed themselves. Beating fellow East Londoners 2-0 at home was a highlight as was the 3-0 home win over eventual Champions, Everton.

In the Cup, West Ham beat Fulham 2-1 away after a 0-0 draw at Upton Park.

Three points for a win, one for a draw, sweet FA for a lose. Should two or more teams have the same number of points, goal difference decides bragging rights.

Although in the good old days, clubs only received two points for a win in the League, the importance of beating your rivals means that no matter the season, three points for a win applies in the London Bragging Rights League.
