When it comes to football, winning trophies is all very well, but what really matters is who can go into work on a Monday morning with their head held high after a derby game.
It's all about bragging rights. |

Two World Wars. Now all that was needed was a World Cup win and we could sing a song to the Germans.
With the war over and life returning to some sort of normality, football returned, but there was no League season. Instead the FA Cup was played on a home and away basis.
This gave the lower division clubs the opportunity to compete for bragging rights.
From the London derby games played in the Cup, honours were split fairly evenly with no team winning home and away.
Charlton made it to the Final where Burnley needed extra time to beat them, but for our money, Second Division West Ham deserve to be awarded bragging rights for the season. For starters, they thrashed the mighty Arsenal 6-0 at home and put them out the Cup. And they beat First Division Chelsea at home too.

Three points for a win, one for a draw, sweet FA for a lose. Should two or more teams have the same number of points, goal difference decides bragging rights.
Although in the good old days, clubs only received two points for a win in the League, the importance of beating your rivals means that no matter the season, three points for a win applies in the London Bragging Rights League.
