![]() When it comes to football, winning trophies is all very well, but what really matters is who can go into work on a Monday morning with their head held high after a derby game. London Bragging Rights League 1903-1904 No London clubs were in the top flight of the Football League at the time and none played each other in the FA Cup either. Arsenal finished runners-up in Division Two and were promoted to the First Division. However, non-League Millwall reached the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup by beating non-League Bristol Rovers and Luton, eventual Division Two champions Preston NE and Everton, who would finish third in Division One, before losing at Derby County. Arsenal played Preston twice in Division Two with both games ending goalless while Millwall thrashed Preston 4-1. So with no top flight clubs, the bragging rights to the best team in London for the 1902-1903 season go to Millwall. | Three points for a win, one for a draw, sweet FA for a lose. Should two or more teams have the same number of points, goal difference decides bragging rights. Although in the good old days, clubs only received two points for a win in the League, the importance of beating your rivals means that no matter the season, three points for a win applies in the London Bragging Rights League. Cup success, especially against London rivals, can be used as a decider if required. |
